Important Information About Your Cardiac Device

We would like to be the first to welcome you and let you know that we, at RhythmScience Inc. and your Cardiologist/Electrophysiologist are working together to remotely monitor your cardiac device and provide you with the best possible care. Your health and safety are a top priority for us, and our team is working to ensure that your heart device is communicating vital information to your doctors quickly and reliably.

Do you know why Remote Cardiac Monitoring is important?

If you have an arrhythmia (abnormal heart beat), or your cardiac device needs attention, your monitor can detect this and alert your doctor. This allows your doctor to treat you quickly and prevent a possible trip to the hospital. Leading research studies have found that just by keeping your monitor plugged in and working properly, you are increasing your chances of living longer and avoiding a trip to the hospital by over 50%.

How Remote Monitoring Works

If you already have a monitor, please make sure the setup process has been completed (this occurs at the hospital prior to discharge, or once you get home). Please keep the monitor plugged in and connected at all times. It is preferred to keep it next to your bedside, or wherever you sleep- this is when the monitor makes a connection with your cardiac device. It’s possible you have a mobile app instead of a bedside monitor, and the same guidance above applies (just make sure the app is running in the background, and your bluetooth is turned on!)  If you have a monitor that does not automatically transmit, the above does not apply, and you will be given transmission dates from either your doctor’s office, or the RhythmScience team.

Your monitor works as a messenger, taking any data/information that is recorded and stored inside of your implanted device, and sending it to your device company’s portal. We receive your data from the device company, review it, and send it to your doctor’s office. If for any reason there is a concern, your doctor’s office will contact you.  If for some reason your monitor disconnects or we do not receive any data, you will receive a call that your monitor needs some attention.

One last thingwe do bill Medicare and/or your insurance, so if you see us on your statement, just know that your heart is in the best hands possible and we are here for you when you need us. You may also see a statement from your doctor’s office- this is because we take care of the “technical” portion of your remote monitoring making sure your transmitter is working as expected, and your doctor interprets the report and uses the data to manage your care, which is the “professional” portion. You are not getting charged any more-- the service is just split into 2 parts.

Remember! Your health and safety are our top priority, and our service only works if your monitor is correctly set up and connected at all times.  If you have questions about your monitor, or if you choose not to participate in this service, you can call the RhythmScience team at 1-844-420-0024 (toll-free), or email us at support@rhythmscienceinc.com. For questions concerning the results of your transmissions, please speak with your doctor.
